A thorough analysis of the ego and self-actualization through purpose. One breeds resistance because it is infatuated with survival and basics, and one strives to accomplish meaningful tasks and reconnect with a higher power, the creative spirit... God... For what do we do if we have nobody to impress? Do we do things out of hierarchical needs or from the soul? This book is an elegant deep dive into the intricacies of human will and the illusion of resistance when it comes to fulfilling the highest good of the human spirit, which is to create.

Time and again Pressfield's insights resonate like a tuning fork. This isn't a book about getting published. It's a book about conquering those bad habits and inner demons that keep us from realizing our callings whatever those may be. To anyone who needs help in their creative endeavors, I highly recommend this book.

The book is filled with brief 1 to 3 page arguments about creativity and how we undermine ourselves creatively. The book then goes on to be inspirational about how we can break through this self subterfuge. Since it's "chapters" are so short it's something that's great to open to any page and find something to get you going for the day. I will definitely crack this open from time to time to find inspiration. The thing I don't like is the inclusion of the author's spiritual beliefs into the later pages.
