Whoever wrote the synopsis clearly hadn't read the book. Although there is humour, the book is not typical Wodehouse comedy but serious drama, including tragedy, but with a happy ending.

About the author

P. G. Wodehouse is a master of Wodehouse humor and a celebrated author of Humorous fiction. His Wodehouse novel, The Coming of Bill, stands as a delightful Comedy novel and a sharp piece of Satirical fiction. Considered a Wodehouse classic fiction, the book offers a lively Social satire novel focusing on New York society fiction and capturing the spirit of Upper class satire. Central to this Lighthearted comedy novel is a complex web of Family relationships fiction, exploring a significant Marriage story and an attempted Arranged marriage comedy novel. The cast is populated with unforgettable Eccentric characters comedy, including the formidable Lora Delane Porter, whose advocacy for Eugenics fiction provides Victorian eugenics satire and theories on the Future of the race, including the Hygienic care of baby. We encounter the artistic and easygoing Kirk Winfield, living an Artist life fiction with a Private income, and the sought-after Ruth Bannister, a typical Heiress character novel. The plot unfolds through unexpected events like an Elopement plot novel, and a dramatic Financial ruin story tied to the turbulent Wall Street finance novel world and the intricate Financial market plot, overseen by Ruth's earnest brother, Bailey Bannister, adding touches of Philanthropy satire. The narrative also features the gruff-but-lovable Steve Dingle, a Pugilist whose life intersects with Boxing theme novel elements and a focus on Physical training theme and Fight fiction. He serves as a unique Servant characters fiction alongside figures like Keggs the butler and Mamie, the baby's nurse. At the heart of many conflicts is William Bannister Winfield, the Baby character story, whose Childhood development fiction becomes a battleground of philosophies. The story deftly portrays an Uncle nephew relationship novel between Bailey and Bill and an Aunt niece relationship story between Lora and Ruth. Moving between a New York setting novel and a quieter Connecticut setting fiction, with detours into a Gold mining plot fiction as an Adventure plot novel involving Hank Jardine, this Wodehouse book is a superb example of Upper class life novel seen through a comedic lens.
