Группе «Скат», состоящей из бывших морских спецназовцев, поручено взять под охрану лесовоз «Ладога», на который, по оперативным данным, готовится нападение пиратов. Так оно и случилось. Возле острова Суматра судно атакуют два десятка пиратских катеров. Бойцы группы «Скат» вступают в бой с превосходящей по численности морской бандой, но отбить атаку не удается. Командир судна Торин принимает решение затопить поврежденный пиратами корабль, а заодно выяснить, зачем пиратам понадобился не имеющий особой ценности лесовоз. Для этого он... сдается пиратам в плен.
