VERO

I've had the app since 2018 (on android), and it had issues but still solid and different from IG. Better quality photos and UI. However, a new release for Android entirely came out after years of work, supposedly – and it's significantly worse. Vero only works on ios/apple. No longer can I see the sample tracks of songs I post, or even movie descriptions from anyone else's posts. I don't know how they managed to make it worse. Community is almost nonexistent unless you're a photographer.

I'm someone who's trying to quit addictive mainstream social media like Facebook and Instagram, and Vero is exactly what I was looking for. No ads, no algorithms, no endless scrolling. Just a clean, respectful space where I can share and explore at my own pace. For anyone who wants a healthier alternative to traditional social media, this is the platform. Highly recommended for mindful users and digital minimalists.

Alright, first and foremost: Vero claims to be different to other plattforms, having no algorithm and ads, which would imply being more privacy-focused. And yet it REQUIRES you to supply a phone number "for others being able to find you". Sure buddy. Totally necessary. Besides that the app laggs constantly, which I would totally respect from a Beta App, when they wouldn't advertise this: "We’ve completely rebuilt VERO for Android from the ground up for a faster, more stable experience."
